BlackBerry® Warranty Terms and Conditions

Scope of Standard Warranty:

Brightstar Distribution Sdn. Bhd. (“Brightstar”) warrants that the device, accessories and parts thereof collectively “Products” distributed by Brightstar will be free from all defects in material and workmanship under normal use & service for the following periods and valid only within Malaysia from the purchase date subject to the Warranty Terms and Conditions set out below: 

24 months for device and 12 months for accessories including device battery. 24 months warranty is only with valid online registration at www.brightstarcorp.com.my/24monthsblackberry and device must be registered within 14 days from purchase’s date with proof-of-purchase document obtain from reseller during the completion of purchase transaction. Default warranty is 18 months on device if the above online registration is done after 14 days of purchase.

To Get Warranty Service:

  • Log on www.brightstarcorp.com.my/24monthsblackberry and register yourself and device information required within the online form.
  • The proof of purchase document must be produced together with the faulty device or accessory of parts thereof when seeking repair.
  • Photostated copies of the proof of purchase document will not be accepted.
  • This warranty does not include transport, delivery and handling charge incurred in the transportation of the device / accessory / part to and from the customer’s premises or designated place.
  1. During the applicable warranty period, in respect of the defective device / accessory / part, Brightstar, at its option, will at no charge repair or replace such device / accessory / part, as the case may be.
  2. Brightstar and its employee will not be responsible for any external or third party accessories such as screen protector, casing or any other accessories attached to the device.
  3. Brightstar and its employee will not be responsible for any information/data lost or damaged during the warranty or service procedure and it is advisable for customers to do self data backup before sending devices to Brightstar.
  4. Any data backup or device switch assisted by Brightstar employees will be by device owner’s own freewill and Brightstar and its employee will not be responsible for any information/data lost, damage or stolen.

Warranty Exclusions Limited:

  • This warranty is valid if the device, accessory or parts is purchased in Malaysia and if the repair or replacement is carried out in Malaysia only.
  • This warranty is not transferable, negotiable or assignable to a third party.
  • This warranty for device, accessory and part does not cover the following circumstances:-
    1. If the device / accessory / part was not purchased from retailers authorised by Brightstar in Malaysia; or the device / accessory / part is not authorised by Brightstar; or
    2. If the damage to the device / accessory / part is or has been caused by accident, neglect, improper testing, installation, adjustment, operation, maintenance, alteration or modification of any kind, or spillage of food or liquid, fire, flood, voltage fluctuation, faulty installation, acts of God, corrosion, rusts, stain or other cause arising or in connection with misuse, negligence or fault of the customer; or
    3. If the damage resulted from use of the device / part in other than their normal and customary manner, eg. In excess of their maximum specifications or operating instruction; or
    4. If the device / accessory / part is or has been installed, maintained, or tampered with or repaired by any person other than an authorised service centre technician or person authorised by the Brightstar Distribution Sdn. Bhd. or if the original identification marks have been removed or made illegible from the device / accessory part; or
    5. All plastic surfaces, display and all other externally exposed and internally non-exposed that are scratched, cracked or damaged due to customer normal use; or
    6. If the accessories relate to external parts of the device such as antenna element, casing, control knobs / buttons, carrying strap and all other attachment; or
    7. If the device / accessory / part has been purchased not for the customer’s use and but used by him for hire or leasing purpose; or
    8. Operation or damage caused by ancillary or peripheral device not manufactured by Brightstar Distribution Sdn. Bhd. but used in conjunction with or accompanying the device / accessory / part; or
    9. In the case of device, if poor performance is due to bad reception or non reception of radio signals as a result of blind spots or in areas of poor signal strength; or
    10. Any other defects or faults which occur for reasons beyond the control of Brightstar Distribution Sdn. Bhd.

This Warranty does not confer any rights other than those expressly set out herein.

This warranty contains Brightstar Distribution Sdn. Bhd. sole liability with respect to the device, accessory, part sold and is given in lieu of all other warranties or representations whether statutory or otherwise, or whether express or implied, oral or written, which are specifically excluded to the full extent permitted by law, including without limitation, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Under no circumstance shall Brightstar Distribution Sdn. Bhd. liability exceed the purchase price of the device, accessory or part. In no event shall Brightstar Distribution Sdn. Bhd. be liable at law or in equity for any special, incidental or consequential damages arising out of in connection with the installation, use or failure of the device, accessory or part or any defect therein or any part thereof from any cause whatsoever including without limitation the negligence of Brightstar Distribution Sdn. Bhd. or its employees or agents.
